The Eye of London June 2011

The Eye of London - our last night in London was spent on the Ferris wheel near Parliament. By the time everyone arrived the sun was getting close to setting. It was a fitting final hurray and I was able to capture the friendship and camaraderie that developed in the two weeks we traveled.

Gallows to Graveyard - Edinburgh

This was an ad hoc adventure that Christine Mule suggested and it took hold with the group. We met at the Mercat Cross near St Giles, the scene of many executions in Edinburgh history. Our guide was an interesting and knowledgable storyteller and on the way to the graveyard (above) the various means of indentifying and executing witches were explained to us. By the time we arrived, we were completely creeped out - only to find an amazing graveyard with intricately designed headstones and family burial couryards. The tour was fun, interesting and scared the heck out of most of us...the third to the last picture is the vault where the tour ends, and the shock and surprise in that vault is worth the $$ spent for the tour.
