The Scott Monument


The design competition for the Scott Monument in Princes Street Gardens attracted 55 entrants in 1837. The eventual winner was George Meikle Kemp, who created a massive Victorian Gothic tower to surround the statue of Sir Walter Scott, crafted by John Steell (www.scotcities.com)
